Microsoft unveiled its most ambitious project in recent years - wearable holographic computer called Project HoloLens. The headset has a slightly darkened transparent display and surround sound system that allows you to not only see the hologram, but also hear them.
The headset is a prototype. It was developed in the studio Microsoft Studio C, codenamed Project Baraboo for five years under the direction of Alex Kipmana. Points Baraboo get more Google Glass, but much less Oculus Rift.
Microsoft plans to transfer Project HoloLens in the hands of developers this spring. More information about this project will be revealed by Microsoft in February.
According to Wired, the headset uses very little energy. Depth camera covers a fairly wide range: 120 degrees - much more than the first Kinect. This coverage allows the gadget to feel all the movements of your hands, even when they are fully extended. The sensors transmit device terabytes of information every second. Data processing by means of regular CPU, GPU, and the first of its kind processor holographic images.
It is reported that Baraboo will not heat your head in the process, because warm air is discharged through the side openings. On the right side are buttons that allow you to adjust the volume and control the contrast of the hologram.
The main achievement of Project HoloLens edition of Wired calls realistic holographic images - a kind of optical illusion with the help of a local light source.
